Pulp Fiction (1994)

Very much like the 1950s magazines that inspired it, Pulp Fiction is extremely entertaining. Coming off the critically acclaimed Reservoir Dogs, Quentin Tarantino struck gold again with this crime thriller about murder, drugs, crime, and revenge.

The story revolves around the misadventures of two hitman (played by John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson), as well as a punchy boxer on the run from a mob boss (played by Bruce Willis and Ving Rhames, respectively). The two stories intertwine and more background is revealed through the brilliant use of time. This movie is not linear, but instead jumps back and forth between events. It is also heavily dialogue driven, and in no other movie, I guarantee, will you find dialogue more entertaining.

The performances are realistic and believable with special nods to Travolta and Uma Thurman. This movie features some iconic movie moments, like Mia Wallace's (Thurman) overdose on drugs, and Jackson's passage from the Bible.

I've watched this movie hundreds of times, and honestly, it is still one of my favorite movies. A solid, modern day masterpiece.
